Thai Neck Massage

7 easy methods to learn and practice basic Thai neck massage. The following methods help to reduce muscle sprain and soreness caused from falling off pillows, reduce headache, increase blood circulation, balance body hormones, and reduce stress.

Basic Traditional Massage – Neck.  Method 1 “Squeeze neck”

This helps reduce headache symptom and soreness caused by head falling off pillows.

  • How to:  Have client sit on floor or chair.  Massage therapist stands behind client.  Right hand holds client’s head.  Left hand holds nape of neck and squeeze all the way down to neck.  Apply pressure on all fingers.

Basic Traditional Massage – Neck.  Method 2 “Press on Nape of neck:

This helps reduce headache symptom and sore from falling off pillows.

  • How to:  Have client sit on floor or chair.  Massage therapist stands behind client.  Massage temple with left hands.  Left thumb on client’s left temple and middle finger on client’s right temple (palm is over forehead).

Then, make “V” using thumbs and index fingers.  Place thumbs between ear bone and neck muscle.  Place index fingers on both temples.  Apply pressure.

Basic Traditional Massage – Neck.  Method 3 “Upper Neck”

This helps reduce headache symptom and sore from falling off pillows.

  • How to: Put both hands together (picture) over client’s neck.  Use thumbs to apply pressure on neck muscles beside spine line.  This is approximately 1 inch below upper neck line.  Put pressure on the rest of fingers.

This helps reduce neck and shoulder muscle sprain.

  • How to:  Put both hands together (picture) over client’s neck.  Massage from neck to shoulders.  Apply pressure.

This helps reduce headache and sore from falling off pillows.

  • How to:  Put both thumbs over neck muscle and apply pressure.  The rest of fingers on client’s head.  Keep applying pressure on thumbs and keep client’s head stay still.

How to:  Place both hands on client’s upper neck.  Squeeze muscles from upper neck to shoulders.  Apply pressure on all fingers.

This helps reduce sore of neck muscles.

  • How to:  Have client either lay down or sit with face down.  If lay down, put pillow under client’s stomach.

Place both hands together (picture) for chopping method.  Index fingers touch client’s neck. Massage (chop method – up and down) from upper neck to lower neck horizontal to spine line.
